Product Description

The Lynx Studio Technology Aurora (n) line represents a quantum leap in the performance, flexibility, channel count and features of available A/D and D/A converters — and in value. The 1RU modular platform, a complete redesign of the original Aurora, is available here with 16 channel line I/O and Thunderbolt 3 connectivity.

LT-TB3 INTERFACE

Lynx Studio Technology created the LT-TB3 Thunderbolt 3 LSlot interface for Aurora(n). The LT-TB3 is a two-port Thunderbolt 3 expansion card that supports daisy-chaining Aurora(n) and Hilo converters for up to six total certified Thunderbolt devices plus a display on both Apple and Windows computers.

  • Supports connection of up to 6 other Thunderbolt devices total plus a display
  • Compatible with Thunderbolt 1 and Thunderbolt 2 devices (with customer supplied adapter)
  • Supports up to 40Gbps data speed

LM-A24 MODULE

Featuring two analog inputs and four analog outputs, all on Balanced 1/4″ TRS jacks, the LM-A24 is the perfect addition to your 8, 16 or 24 channel Aurora(n). The two analog inputs are switchable between +20 dBu and +24 dBu, making them more compatible with other professional equipment (mic pres, etc.). Outputs are identical to the LM-A4 module.

  • Lynx proprietary 24-bit A/D and D/A conversionFour electronically balanced outputs on TRS
  • Output level adjustments in 0.5dB increments up to +24dBuTwo electronically balanced inputs accept levels up to +24Bu on TRS
  • Fully-differential transparent designLine level performance identical to LM-AIO8E
  • Anti-pop relays on outputs for silent power-ups and -downsSeamless integration with Aurora(n)’s mixing and routing engine

LM-DIG DIGITAL I/O MODULE

The LM-DIG provides 16 channels in and 16 channels out of 24-bit AES/EBU, with bit-perfect transmission at sample rates of up to 192kHz. AES/EBU is a world standard for digital interfacing, and the addition of the LM-DIG to the Aurora(n) means that studios and engineers can quickly and easily integrate its superior audio quality and precise conversion/routing tools with almost any professional-quality recording system, control surface, or other tools that use the AES/EBU standard.

  • 16 input and 16 output channels on two 25-pin female D-subs, Yamaha digital I/O pinout
  • 24-bit AES/EBU (AES3) data format
  • Balanced, transformer-coupled, 110 ohm, RF filtered, electrical interface
  • 44.1 kHz to 192 kHz sample rates supported

DB-ADAT ADAT MODULE

The DB-ADAT daughter board that brings ADAT and S/PIDF connectivity when paired with an LM-DIG Aurora(n) module. Now the industry-leading Aurora(n) interface can be configured to connect directly with other audio devices that support ADAT and/or S/P DIF protocol. With its 300,000:1 jitter reduction capability, Aurora’s SynchroLock 2 technology provides immunity to high levels of jitter which is typical in optical signals. The DB-ADAT also allows Aurora to function as a bi-directional format converter, converting ADAT to AES/EBU and analog and back to ADAT.

  • ADAT daughter board for the LM-DIG AES/EBU digital I/O moduleProvides ADAT and S/PIDF connectivity when paired with an LM-DIG in an Aurora(n) Interface
  • 4 high-quality optical connectors with two inputs and two outputs8 channels per port (16 total ADAT channels of I/O) at 44.1k and 48k
  • 4 channels per port (8 total ADAT channels of l/O) at 88.2k and 96k2 channels per port (4 total ADAT channels of I/O) at 176.4k and 192k ADAT

TRANSPARENCY

Signal coloration is additive and can kill an otherwise pristine mix. That’s why a colored mix begins to collapse while the transparent mix has space, definition and a level of detail that is simply unattainable with converters that add color and distortion. Lynx’s hallmark sonic transparency is why Lynx converters are being used in the most mission-critical audio applications and in the world’s finest recording facilities. Lynx converters have been specified for their uncanny ability to convert signals without adding any artifacts or color.

For audio engineers and producers demanding the most pristine recordings and mixes Lynx is the converter of choice at facilities like Dolby’s new mega complex of audio research, Skywalker Sound, NPR, and the Smithsonian Institute. Lynx converters pass the most stringent tests and shoot outs to become the sought after converters for these discerning professionals. Precision matters more than ever and there is no place for even the slightest coloration or degradation of the signal.

DISCRETE CONVERTER ARRAY

Some manufacturers use multiple converters on a single chip. While that is one way to fit many converter channels in a single rack space while lowering costs, it comes at a steep cost in performance. At Lynx, the analog signal path for each channel has been designed as a self-contained and shielded circuit. Each channel pair has its own dedicated conversion device. This has many sonic advantages by significantly reducing crosstalk and distortion while increasing dynamic range and performance.

HILO CONVERTER TECHNOLOGY (HCT)

Design and technology borrowed from the development of the Hilo is used to significantly improve specifications and transparency over previous models while attaining stunning Hilo-like performance.

SYNCHROLOCK 2

All new SynchroLock 2 high-performance sample clock technology provides a whopping 300,000:1 reduction in jitter, 5 second lock time and absolute accuracy. Word clock I/O provides one input and three outputs on BNC connectors.

FEATURES:

  • 16-channel AD/DA conversion at up to 24-bit/192 kHz
  • 1-in 3-out word clock with Lynx’s second generation SynchroLock 2 technology
  • Future-proof LSlot design with swappable USB, Thunderbolt, ProTools and Dante cards
  • Full Windows and OSX compatibility
  • Onboard 32-channel digital mixer for flexible I/O routing
  • Road-ready rack-mount reinforced chassis
  • Designed and built in Southern California, USA
