The Radial Engineering SGI Instrument Line Driver System consists of a transmit (SGI-TX) and receive (SGI-RX) pair of modules that allows a guitar signal to travel across 300 feet of balanced cable to a distant amplifier without noise or distortion. This makes it easy to send guitar and bass signals across large stages or feed amplifiers off-stage, all without the interference and signal loss that results from using long ¼" instrument cables. The SGI is also a helpful studio tool, providing a robust solution for feeding guitar signals from the live room or control room to a distant isolation booth.
The latest version of the SGI now comes equipped with premium Jensen transformers in both the TX and the RX units, providing improved audio performance across a wider bandwidth, so the tone and nuance of every audio signal is preserved right through to the amplifier. The SGI has also been updated to make it more pedalboard-friendly, with the ability to be powered by standard pedalboard power supplies in addition to the 15V power supply that ships with the SGIs.
The Radial SGI TX is equipped with a recessed knob called Drag control. This unique load correction circuit allows you to apply a resistive-capacitive load on your pickup to counteract any effect of the buffering circuit or cable. It is designed specifically for passive guitar pickups that are most sensitive to the input impedance of an amplifier. Drag will have almost no effect on active devices such as guitar pedals or active basses.
USING THE RADIAL SGI IN THE STUDIO
The SGI is the perfect interface for studio recording. Now, you can sit in the control room and play guitar and actually hear what is coming through the monitors while you play. Simply connect the guitar to the SGI-TX, run a balanced cable to the SGI-RX, and crank to your heart's content!
USING THE RADIAL SGI ON STAGE
The SGI delivers a ready solution for large stages where high-impedance guitar signals are often affected by the capacitance of long cables or noise due to lighting systems. The SGI balances the signal and delivers it without noise. Perfect for isolation cabinets, under-stage amps or remote 'quiet' rooms.
A SOLUTION TO COMPLEX ROUTING SYSTEMS
The SGI is a wonderful tool that can be used to help manage complex setups on stage. You can route the signal from the wireless receiver to the pedalboard, then use a second unit to drive the signal back to your guitar amp and drive signals as far as you need to go without noise.
