From Red Hot Chili Peppers to Metallica to Timbaland, countless iconic records ran through them – that was how you stood out. But loudness was yesterday’s battle. An adaptive limiter designed for modern music, the Waves L4 Ultramaximizer delivers not just (super) competitive levels for streaming, but also musicality: more low end, more transient punch, more life. Today’s sound is deeper. Bigger. More dynamic. Artists grab attention with more than just volume – with nuance, impact and feel. Limiters need to enhance music, not just squash it. L4 adds 5 unique limiting algorithms, adaptive Clipping & Release controls, Upward compression, True Peak, and much more.

A NEW ERA OF LOUD

Every song is different. Waves worked hard to create a palette of limiter algorithms to suit whatever you’re working on. Modern, Aggressive, Smooth, Safe, and of course, the legendary L2 sound as well. The Clipping and Release settings are content-dependent – the plug-in sets them based on your track. You then control the relative level of each, as you hear how they’re affecting the transient impact and feel.

UPWARD COMPRESSION

Inspired by the classic MV2 plug-in, this module is incredible for bringing forward quieter passages and adding density. Used together with appropriate limiter settings, you’ll get more loudness AND more dynamic impact. L4 is a workhorse. You can track through it, mix into it, and master heavy sessions back-to-back. Even use it live – with LV1, SuperRack SoundGrid, SuperRack Performer, or Ableton live sessions.

LUFS METERING AND 2 GUI VIEWS

With short-term and long-term LUFS metering, you’ll have accurate levels while working, allowing you to optimize your songs for different streaming services. For those who like to see exactly what’s being limited, you have the ‘Graphical’ view of L4. For those who like to work old school and mix with your ears, you have the classic view of L4, inspired by the L2 design.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

Mac

CPU: Intel or Silicon Architecture

Memory: 16 GB RAM; 30 GB free disk space on the system drive

Operating System: macOS Ventura 13, Sonoma 14, Sequoia 15

Screen Resolution: 1920x1080 (recommended)

USB displays are not supported as the primary display.

Windows

CPU: X64 compatible Intel or AMD CPU

Memory: 16 GB RAM; 30 GB free disk space on the system drive

Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit; Windows 11

Screen Resolution: 1920x1080 (recommended)

Supported hosts

eMotion LV1 Live Mixer 14, 15

SuperRack SoundGrid 14, 15

SuperRack Performer 14, 15
