Equipped with five polar patterns, selectable low cut filter and switchable pad, the U 89 i offers unparalleled versatility. Say hello to the new gold standard of studio microphones.

WORLD CLASS DESIGN

Originally released in 1980, the U 89 i was designed as a smaller, lighter, modernized version of the world famous Neumann U 87. Capable of handling much higher sound pressure levels, the U 89 i is ideal for recording hard-hitting drummers, roaring guitar amps and more. The robust low cut filter features three settings—perfect for eliminating rumble and compensating for the proximity effect when close miking.

In addition to the traditional omni, cardioid, and figure-8 polar patterns, the U 89 i offers two additional positions for fine-tuning the ambience of your recordings — wide cardioid and hypercardioid. These new polar patterns are perfect for capturing natural sounding recordings in reverberant environments. Equipped with the K89 dual diaphragm condenser capsule, the U 89 i offers a very smooth extended frequency response in all polar patterns. Whether you’re on-axis or off-axis, the U 89 captures clear, balanced, uncolored sound.

THE ULTIMATE VOCAL MICROPHONE

The U 89 i combines the sonic precision and linearity of a state-of-the-art small diaphragm condenser microphone with the smoothness and flexibility of a large diaphragm microphone. This unique tonal balance makes the U 89 i an excellent choice in almost any situation. While the U 89 has earned a reputation as a world-class vocal mic, it sounds great on acoustic instruments as well as orchestral recordings. Simply put, it is perfect for capturing the natural beauty of any performance.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0658/8848/5479/files/neumann-u-89-i-large-diaphragm-condenser-microphone-558-used_508376_1_183b21fc-bd93-4bd8-b456-50001e58e58b.jpg?v=1788277545
