The classic sound of the Fairchild 670 compressor can be heard on some of the most famous songs and albums of the 20th century. Despite its legendary status, it’s believed that only 500 to 1000 Fairchild 670s were ever produced, which explains their elusive reputation and hefty price tag. After decades of demand, Fairchild has been reborn to reissue the 670 as a pound-for-pound recreation of the original unit.

BUILT JUST LIKE THE ORIGINAL 670 COMPRESSOR

This isn’t your average “inspired-by” model or digital recreation—this is the Fairchild 670 compressor, built exactly as it would have been in its original run and by the very company that brought it to life. That means everything that made the original so loved and versatile is present, including its characteristically fast attack and slow release times, tube-driven compression, and silky gain reduction. Capable of everything from subtle leveling to heavy pumping, the 670 is a great choice of compressor for everything from drum overheads to your mix bus.

NEW-OLD STOCK LOOKS AND PARTS

This hand-wired reissue sports the same control layout as its predecessor, featuring six selectable time constants, individual gain and threshold controls for the left and right channels, and VU metering. At the heart of the 670 are 20 vacuum tubes and custom-made transformers, which are key to achieving the unit’s quintessential character and compression style.

THE LEGEND CONTINUES

With this reissue, the Fairchild 670 is poised to reach and inspire a whole new generation of artists, engineers, and producers.
