But they have not necessarily become better at capturing musical expression. The Expressive E Osmose 49 CE redefines the rules. Built around the exact same keybed technology as the acclaimed Osmose synthesizer, Osmose CE introduces a more physical, nuanced, and expressive way to play. With MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression), it unlocks true per-note expression. But just as importantly, it is designed to make expressive playing far more accessible, bringing a new level of nuance and playability to many of the plug-ins, software instruments, and hardware that musicians already use every day. Combined with Ctrl-e, Expressive E’s free companion software, Osmose CE becomes more than a controller: it becomes a tightly integrated expressive music ecosystem, designed to make expressive playing immediate, musical, and easy to integrate into modern studio workflows.

A KEYBOARD UNLIKE ANY OTHER

At the heart of Osmose CE is the exact same expressive keybed technology used in the award-winning Osmose synthesizer. This is not a simplified version. It is the same core playing technology. What makes Osmose CE unique is not only its expressive depth, but the fact that it still feels familiar from the very first note. It plays like a keyboard musicians already know, while opening up new layers of articulation and control under the fingers. Players can bend a single note inside a chord, add vibrato directly with their fingers, and shape phrases with the kind of nuance usually associated with acoustic or expressive instruments. Osmose CE responds not only to where a note is played, but to how it is pressed, bent, and released, turning each gesture into part of the musical performance.

CTRL-E: THE SOUND ECOSYSTEM BUILT FOR OSMOSE CE

Osmose CE works hand in hand with Ctrl-e, the free companion software developed by Expressive E to make expressive music immediate, musical, and inspiring. Ctrl-e is not an add-on. It is a core part of the Osmose CE experience. A highly expressive keyboard only becomes truly meaningful when the sound is designed to respond with the same depth and nuance. Ctrl-e was created to complete that experience. From the first note, it gives musicians access to a rich world of expressive sounds designed to respond naturally to the Osmose keybed. Instead of navigating plug-in-by-plug-in MPE setup, technical routing, and inconsistent compatibility, musicians can simply connect, play, and explore an expressive world that is ready from the start.

Included with Osmose CE:

900+ expressive presets

Dynamic preset browsing with intuitive filtering

8 pre-mapped macros per preset

Deep hardware/software integration

Each preset is designed by Expressive E’s sound designers to respond naturally to pressure, pitch, and gestures, offering a broad and inspiring palette ranging from keys, mallets, and acoustic-inspired instruments to pads, basses, leads, textures, and cinematic sounds. Everything is designed to feel ready to play from the start:
no generic mappings, no technical setup, just sound and response that is ready to be explored.

POWERED BY LEADING SOUND ENGINES

Ctrl-e brings together Expressive E’s own sound technologies and a curated selection of partner instruments into a unified expressive environment.
The ecosystem includes sound engines and technologies from:

Synapse Audio

AAS

Kilohearts

GForce

Dawesome

Vital

Together, they cover a wide range of synthesis approaches, including physical modeling, wavetable, analog-modeling, hybrid, and digital synthesis, all optimized for expressive performance. Ctrl-e is also designed as an evolving platform, with additional supported instruments, deeper editing access, and expanded sound libraries over time. Compatible plug-in licenses already owned by the user can be detected automatically, unlocking deeper integration where supported.

BRING MORE EXPRESSION TO THE INSTRUMENTS YOU ALREADY USE

Osmose CE is designed to work naturally in both MPE and traditional MIDI environments. With MPE-compatible instruments, full per-note expression is unlocked. But it is also designed to bring a new level of nuance and playability to many of the plug-ins, software instruments, and hardware musicians already know and use.
Through preset-based configurations and flexible MIDI setups, Osmose CE makes expressive playing far more accessible across existing workflows, without requiring musicians to start over, rebuild their studio around a new system, or wrestle with the kind of setup complexity that has often held expressive MIDI back. The result is a more immediate and rewarding way to bring expression into everyday music creation.

EXPRESSIVE PERFORMANCE TOOLS BUILT INTO OSMOSE CE

Osmose CE also includes advanced performance tools that expand what can be done directly from the keyboard. MPE Arpeggiator is a uniquely expressive arpeggiator where every note remains independent and responsive in real time, in both MPE and standard MIDI workflows. Press Glide is a unique performance feature that allows players to glide naturally between notes using pressure, rather than relying on fixed portamento times. Together, these tools open up a more fluid and expressive way of shaping phrases, movement, and articulation directly from the keyboard.

SMART DAW INTEGRATION

Osmose CE also includes thoughtfully integrated DAW controls designed to keep musicians immersed in the creative moment, without constantly reaching for a mouse or a secondary controller.

Supported functions include:

Transport controls

Track and device navigation

Mixer control

Macro access

Automatic DAW detection

Compatible DAWs currently include:

Live 12+

Cubase 15+

Bitwig 5+

Logic Pro 12+

BUILT FOR SERIOUS CREATORS

With its white aluminum top and carefully engineered construction, Osmose CE is designed for musicians who expect both precision and durability from the tools they use every day.
