Product Description

The Poly Effects Josh Smith Flat V is a collaboration between Poly Effects and guitarist Josh Smith, renowned for his roots-based blend of blues and jazz. Flat V is a two-channel gain pedal combining analog tones and digital controls for a unique and nuanced overdrive pedal. Channel A is transistor based with selectable diodes. Channel B is an amp style gain circuit with cascaded JFETs replacing valves. Synth style resonant filters shape the tone of Channel B. Flat V allows you to switchg which channel cascades into the other. The Flat V employs a touched-based slider surface for altering settings. All presets have 2 sides that allow you to blend between 2 values of each slider. You can blend with the waveshapes, MIDI or an envelope that reacts to your playing. Blending allows very complex tremolo, envelope filter and auto wah effects. 100% analog signal path with digital control.

As noted, Channel A is a transistor-based boost featuring two controls. The first is a dedicated footswitch which engages/disengages the circuti. The second is strip of touch sensitive icons allowing you to select between four different diode options. The diode options are Schottky, Germanium, Silicon, and LED - each a subtly distinct and nuanced gain choice.

Channel B is a cascaded JFET design designed to emulate valve amplifier drive. This channel responds to almost every other control set on the pedal. Activated by its own footswitch, it features more touch-sensitive slider controls to shape the High Pass Filter Cutoff, Volume, Gain and Low Pass Filter Cutoff parameters. Every slider also has a secondary function activated by the touch labels under the main parameter. These seconday functions are High Pass Filter Resonance Level, Envelope Attack Sensitivity, LFO Speed and Low Pass Filter Resonance Level. The last two parameters (and the filter controls) coincide with the second selection strip which allows you to switch between four wave shapes and blending patterns Sine, Square, Triangle and Envelope Follower.

Flat V features standard input and output jacks plus ins and outs for full MIDI implementation for every parameter. Flat V is a truly unique drive pedal - a harbinger of tones to come!
