Peluso Microphone Lab P-12 Multi-Pattern Tube Condenser Mic
Product Description
The Peluso Microphone Lab P-12 Tube Microphone is styled after AKG's legendary vintage C12 microphone. Produced from 1953 to 1963, the C12 was revered by engineers for its beautiful vocal quality. The P-12 employs a dual sided edge terminated 34 mm gold-coated mylar capsule and a 6072A glass triode tube. The circuitry and transformer have been designed to match the vintage C12. Carefully selected components, thorough testing and attention to detail all come together in this beautiful full-bodied classic tube microphone.
The P-12 is paired with the Peluso MX-56 power supply. The dual sided capsule in the P12 enables the power supply to feature 9 polar patterns in an array from omni-directional to cardioid to figure eight.
The P-12 features a heavy-duty 8-pin screw-on cable connector. The large diameter pins in the screw on connector give a tight and secure cable connection designed to perform for a lifetime of use.
Tis microphone kit comes as a complete system including the P-12 Microphone in a wood box, MX-56 power supply, new-style 8-pin screw on cable assembly and a shock mount, all packed in a flight case.

This is a great microphone for the price. I've had one for about four years, and have found that it's got great application on vocals (intimate and breathy lead vocals, and stacked backgrounds), acoustic guitar, and for aux percussion (either as the main mic or as a room mic). There's a nice sheen across the high end, with a nice balance of detail, clarity, and a slight vintage warmth.

This mic makes my vox sound amazing!! I originally ordered a Pearlman TM 47 and was shipped this by accident (their inventory #'s were one digit off so it was an easy mistake)...did a few takes with it before sending it back, but when I got the Pearlman (a more expensive and much more highly regarded mic) it couldn't hold a candle to the P12. Everyone who heard the takes agreed. Luckily Vintage King allowed me to return the mic and swap it (a few days after my 30 day return window, I might add!). No matter how I EQ the P12 it sounds amazing. I've only recorded my own vocals so far, but it's a huge winner for me after having tried a good range of mics in the $1-3k range.
