Product Description

Classic Neve 8068 formerly owned by Herbie Hancock console with Fred Hill modifications. Known as the ‘Black/Blue” Neve 8068. At some point in the early 70s it was owned by Family Studio’s in Paris, whose in house tech performed various work on the desk, hand building some of modules (32408 buss routing & 32404 Aux). AC/DC’s legendary “For Those About to Rock” album was mixed on the desk. Herbie Hancock owned console for a lengthy period and recorded the brilliant “Future Shock” on the desk. Many fine recordings were done on the desk at his studio. In the past decade Fred Hill performed various mods and work on the desk/modules.

  • 32x Inline monitor input with volume/pan
  • 8 Slots available for optional Neve 32264 type com/lims or additional 31102/1073 mic pre/EQ type
  • 5x Audio Accessory TT96 point patch bays
  • Mogami cabling terminated with Elco multipins at console end (15-25' in length)
  • 6x Neve PSU (1 being a spare)
  • Length of 8068 console: 75"

Fred Hill modifications include:

  • 6 additional line in on panel: pan, volume, PH reverse, aux a/b, brass/treble eq. Aux A (can be sent to Aux's 1,3,5,7) assign that applies to entire panel
  • 4 speaker selector panel - allows choice of 4 sets of stereo monitors
  • 8 stereo external playback panel-allows choice of 8 stereo external inputs
  • Mix to aux 5/6 and mix to aux 7/8 select
  • Mix insert in/out
  • Multitrack meters tape in put
  • Solos follow ext playback
  • Meter buffer cards
  • Center section modifications include speaker switching, ‘Mix to Aux’ for cue
  • (8) additional Aux/Reverb returns on panel in the upper right corner of desk
