At the heart of the 1073OPX are eight fully independent microphone preamps engineered with the classic Neve 1073 circuit design. Each mic input channel employs Neve Marinair transformers that deliver the renowned "big iron" tone: warm harmonic saturation, punchy low-mids, and detailed highs. With generous headroom and up to 70 dB of gain, this 8-channel mic preamp handles everything from delicate vocals to the most bombastic drums and guitars. Each mic/line/DI channel also provides 48V phantom power, switchable phase, impedance, -25 dB pad, and 80 Hz high-pass filter. From the microphone inputs to the output transformers, every signal that passes through will come out sounding better.
Building on its heritage, the Neve 1073OPX incorporates modern, remote controllable features for today's hybrid analog-digital workflows. The unit also features remote control via Ethernet, allowing you to adjust every gain knob, switch, and routing setting via the 1073 OPX app, plus automatic total recall for all settings. Front-panel mic/line/DI inputs make it easy to quickly connect mics and instruments, while integrated phantom power, impedance switching, and phase reversal functions ensure you're prepared for any session. These improvements make the 1073 OPX an innovative solution offering remote controllable microphone inputs and DI inputs compatible with all signal sources.

A couple of engineers and I did a shoot out with the 8 channel Millennia, Grace and Neve 1073OPX mic pres. I had used the Millennia many times and it was great as expected. The 1073OPX brought that classic 1073 sound and the clarity and coloring of Neve was the winner. Especially getting 8 channels of 1073 for $4K… Also love the ability to control and scene recall on the 1073OPX from my DAW...

This preamp is a game changer in my studio. It's a got a beautiful warm feel to it that is great to have for podcasting, drums, vocals, guitars, piano, you name it. I love the front end line/mic hook ups for when I'm just sitting in the control room running my own tracks. The single increment increase in gain is awesome. If you don't have one of these yet, jump on the train, drink the kool aid and buy the t shirt.

This thing is a game changer. The gain and flexibility of the unit allows me to track vocals from a SM7B without a Cloud Lifter or other device. It got acres of Neve gain on any source. Tracking drums though this is amazing as well. You get the transformer weight that you expect with vintage Neve gear in a compact and affordable box. My question now is, is one enough? Amazing.
