Neumann SM69 tube with Stephen Paul Mod #1264 (Used)

Stephan Paul replaced the 6 micron thick diaphragms of the K67 capsule with the thinner 3 micron PEC. Also, all capacitors in the microphone amplifier and power supply have been changed to match the improvements of the capsule.

The Neumann SM69 is a coincident-stereo microphone produced from 1964 to 1973. Based on the AC701k tube and K67 capsule, it is essentially a stereo version of the legendary U67. Both capsules have three possible polar patterns of omni, cardioid and figure eight, controlled remotely on the power supply. The top capsule can be rotated 270 degrees relative to the fixed lower capsule. This capability, in conjunction with the various polar patterns, allows for Blumlein, Mid/Side or X/Y stereo recording.
