Product Description

Note: this set includes an aftermarket power supply and pattern box built by Schaal Audio in Germany.

In 1970, Neumann introduced a fet version of their SM 69 stereo condenser microphone. The capsule head contains two isolated, independent K67 capsules arranged one above the other. The upper capsule may be rotated against the lower through an arc of 270 degrees. The amplifier section contains two independent microphone amplifiers with extremely low self-noise level.

An external power supply and pattern selector box allows for operation across nine different directional characteristics for each system independently of one another including: Omnidirectional, Cardioid, Figure-8, as well as six intermediate patterns including Hypercardioid and Wide Cardioid.

The combination of multi-pattern support and a rotating top capsule assembly allows the SM 69 fet to support a variety of single-point stereo pickup patterns: X-Y, Mid-Side, and Blumlein.
