Product Description

The Holy Grail vintage tube omni microphone, known for its superbly detailed and natural tone, using the AC701K tube. Comes with original case, cable, Neumann N52a PSU, and new Wunder yoke mount.

The AC701K triode tube is the higher-quality version of the AC701. Created for the telephone network in Germany, the 'K' stands for Klingarm, which means 'low ringing noise'. This tube was specifically designed to be less susceptible to tube microphonics.

The M250 is the broadcast version of the classic M50, one of the most widely used microphones for recording classical music, particularly in the 'Decca Tree' format, where three of these omni's were suspended above the orchestra to capture the full detail of the sound stage. With its diaphragm mounted on the face of a perspex sphere, the M50 has unique tonal characteristics that are found in no other mic of its era. There is probably no better omnidirectional mic for recording, and the wealth of great orchestral albums done with this mic attest to its greatness.
