Combining the classic K47/49 large diaphragm capsule with Neumann’s innovative transformerless tube circuit, the M 149 offers the best of both worlds: the unmistakable sound of analog tube amplification and the flexibility of modern low-noise microphones. The M 149 Tube is inspired by a long lineage of innovative microphones. Inspired by the legendary M 49 microphone, released in the 1950s as a modernized version of the iconic U 47, the M 149 continues the tradition of combining the unmistakable Neumann tone with innovative new features.
Equipped with the classic K 47/49 dual large diaphragm capsule, the M 149 Tube delivers the same balance and unmatched presence found in the M 49 and U 47. The capsule signal is then amplified by a subminiature triode tube to ensure minimal self-noise. Finally, the M 149 introduces an all-new high-precision, ultra-low distortion transformerless output stage, for improved transient response.
