Featuring completely redesigned hardware and software, Plaits offers a more streamlined approach to sound generation than its predecessor. Plaits boasts additional CV inputs, three timbre-tweaking tools per model, and intuitive controls that allow you to seamlessly weave between synthesis techniques. Capable of creating complex sounds that typically require a full rack of oscillators, filters, VCAs, waveshapers and ring-modulators, Plaits packs a powerful punch into a surprisingly small package.
Plaits uses simple controls to create complex sonic landscapes. Toggle between all 16 synthesis modes with the touch of a button. Use the Frequency knob to create sounds that span across 8 octaves. Quickly dial-in the perfect texture with model-dependent tone controls. Transform your sound from dark and dense to bright and airy with the Timbre knob. Explores lateral timbral variations with the Morph knob, or use the Harmonics knob to add color and character to simple synth sounds. I would have designed some of the red modes different but overall its a pretty good module. Instruction manual doesn't go to heavily into detail on what all the different things mean, but there is a short description of every knob/mode/io port. If I want a super complex sound generally I use a different module but this is great for a handful of very different sounds and getting them quickly with only 1 module. Very good space effeciency and its versatile. Depth is shallow except for a couple of the modes which can really show off the power of all those modulation options. being able to modulate the model can also lead to some really cool stuff. The Vintage King experience was perfect. I clicked the buy button online and it showed up in the mail without problems.
Vintage King shipped the module quickly and it arrived in perfect condition. As for Plaits sound and functionality -- SUPERB. I offers an incredible range of sounds and has become my preferred source for both subtle and dominant percussive tones. I have particularly enjoyed pairing Plaits with Euclidean Circles, MI Rings, and slow swelling bass lines from a Model D.
I can’t imagine not having at least one of these in my modular. I actually have two.If you’re starting out, start with this.

Way more flexible for percussive sound than I'd anticipated - synth options are great, too! the dual outputs' paired usage is another avenue that really multiplies what sounds you're getting out of the module. Great buy, there's a reason it's typically never available :)
