The Moog Grandmother Dark is a new color variant for Moog Grandmother. Grandmother Dark presents the same great features, sounds, and specs as the original colorful Grandmother, now offered in an all-black color scheme that invokes the timeless look of Moog's classic modular. The Grandmother is a semi-modular analog synthesizer with a built-in arpeggiator, sequencer, and spring reverb tank. Inspired by Moog’s modular roots, the Grandmother uses high-quality analog components to deliver thick, rich tones. Thanks to an innovative pre-wired design, Grandmother requires absolutely no patching, making it easy to start exploring, experimenting and discovering new sounds.
The Grandmother comes equipped with a 32-note velocity-sensitive keyboard for performing live or recording sequences up to 256 notes. At the heart of The Grandmother are two voltage-controlled oscillators (with hard sync capabilities) and a white noise generator. Each oscillator features a four-position octave switch and a four-position waveform selector, with options for Triangle, Saw, Square, and Narrow Pulse. A three-channel mixer with an additional 1/4” external audio input lets you blend signals together for limitless possibilities.
The Grandmother is equipped with an array of versatile tools for sculpting sounds. Moog’s classic four-pole Ladder filter and a patchable one-pole high pass filter make it easy to dial in a wide range of unique sounds. An all-analog ADSR envelope allows you to craft everything from tight, punchy plucks or big booming bass patches. The modulation section is packed with a wide-range analog LFO with sync input and a sample/hold output for creating dynamic, evolving soundscapes. The built-in 6-inch spring reverb tank gives tracks a deep, dark tone that’s entirely one-of-a-kind. With 21 inputs, 20 outputs, and 41 patch points, there’s no limit to what you can create.
The Grandmother’s rear panel is equipped with an array of inputs and outputs for integrating additional audio devices. The Audio section includes the Main Output/Headphone Output, as well as a dedicated instrument input for controlling the Grandmother with an external device. A Eurorack Out jack makes it easy to connect to Eurorack devices, while the dedicated reverb out lets you capture wet and dry signals. The ARP/SEQ CV jacks are used to synchronizing the Arpeggiator or Sequencer with other analog instruments. A robust MIDI section features MIDI In, Out and Thru jacks—as well as a USB output—for connecting to other MIDI-equipped synthesizers, keyboards, processors, and more.
