Product Description

After four decades of making its mark on countless hit records, the Moog 16-Channel Vocoder has been brought back to life. In 2020, Moog Music has announced that their US factory in North Carolina will be producing a faithful reproduction of the classic vocoder.

Originally introduced in 1978, the Moog Vocoder functions as an instrument that analyzes the timbral character of a source and applies it to a second signal. The Moog 16 Channel Vocoder can be used to make synths absolutely sing and vocals morph into ethereal sounds. Much like the original in 1978, the new reissue of the Moog Vocoder makes a great addition to sound design environments and will inspire musicians with ease.

Painstakingly recreated to preserve the best of the original product’s features, the new Moog 16 Channel Vocoder based its designed on the original schematic and added only the updates that would improve performance.

A modern power supply has been appointed to improve durability and reliability, and updated mechanical connectors make for an instrument that is strengthened against the wear and tear of gigging life.

16 Patchable Bands

The Moog 16 Channel Vocoder accommodates 16 bands and features a DIRECT mode that captures higher frequencies, allowing the Vocoder to deliver greatly intelligibility of vocal sounds. With a super fast response time, the Moog Vocoder has no problems capturing transient spikes from drums and percussion sources too.

Hiss, Buzz, and Balance Controls

Hiss (sibilance), Buzz (plosive), and Balance control parameters are included, allowing users to tweak and fine tune the sound and sonic characteristics of the voicing.

External Patching

Like many of the favorite Moog products, the Moog Vocoder includes patching options and cabling that allows users to connect the vocoder with other analog gear, for flexible sound creation throughout an entire suite of instruments.

I had two Grammy wins this year - Ray LaMontagne & Carolina Chocolate Drops. Both made with help from Vintage King!

In almost 20 years in Pro audio buying, never did I receive a unit so well packed and exactly as described. Works flawlessly. The whole process has been so smooth. I will never hesitate to do business with you guys in the future and will recommend you to everyone I know.

This was my first experience buying something from Vintage King (although I surf the "used" categories on the website frequently!), and, despite being on the other side of the world, I had absolutely no trouble and everything went very smoothly.
