The Manley Massive Passive Stereo Tube EQ is a two-channel, four-band equalizer, with additional high pass and low pass filters. "Passive" refers to the tone shaping part of this clever new EQ design not using any active circuitry. Only metal film resistors, film capacitors and hand-wound inductors sculpt the sound, kinda like a Pultec EQ on hyper-steroids. Super-beefy, hugely-high-headroom Manley all-tube make-up gain amplifiers deliver your tunes into the next realm. "Massive".... it's a fitting word for this beast. You'll need to experience this.
Creating natural, organic, acoustic tone can only be done with an equalizer that treats the signal with natural methods. The Massive Passive uses simple passive components and exploits their natural qualities rather than forcing a complex circuit to meet an arbitrary clinical or scientific goal. Manley knows that recording and mastering equalizers are used by artists for artistic goals and they balanced this design with a little more art than science. The Massive Passive is intended both for the most radical EQ sometimes needed for tracking as well as the most subtle shadings for vocals and mastering. It is designed to be a fundamentally different EQ but incorporates the best strengths of Pultecs, choice console EQs, parametrics and graphics. The difference is that the Massive allows twice as much EQ with half the coloration. It allows huge HF boosts without sibilance problems and unbelievable fatness without mud. This is unique. Being different also gives it some quirks and idiosyncrasies that will spark your creativity and sense of audio adventure.

When I was making my first album, engineer Paul Baker (Vancouver) bought one of these and turned it on during mixing. I was shocked at how it sweetened the high end and enhanced the low end in a very natural sounding way. The highs didn't get brittle / hyped, more like a natural sheen of air was added. Paul also seemed to be able to clear space, clear mud and boxiness with this unit.

This is the greatest product. Even without using the EQ settings, just running your audio through the Massive Passive makes you music and sound even better. The eq adjustments are very easy to use and are friendly to your audio. It truly makes EQing very intuitive and spontaneous, and music making less of an effort. Unlike other eqs. The sound itself, while being neutral, make the music more musical.
Worth every penny!

I've been fortunate to have a Massive Passive at my studio for the past three years and it's the one piece of gear I really couldn't replace. It's on my mix bus and on most of my masters. The four bands are all very flexible and can anything from subtle to aggressive eq'ing. I can't recommend this enough.

The Manley Massive Passive is the best sounding eq EVER. Period. From tracking to mastering, this thing is unbelievable. I use it on kick, snare, drum buss, vocals, guitars, mix, mastering, actually as i said it's perfect for everything :D :D

LGBTQ+ Pride Month 2021 may be wrapping up today, but Manley Labs has introduced a new piece of gear that it hopes will raise awareness and support for an important cause. Just like last year's MASSIVE PRIDE edition of the MASSIVE PASSIVE, the brand is offering up a limited edition run of the VOXBOX dubbed the VOXBOX 2021 Pride Edition.
Before we get to the gear itself, let's talk about the initiative Manley Labs is taking with the VOXBOX 2021 Pride Edition. The pro audio brand is donating proceeds from the sales of its new channel strip to the Human Rights Campaign. This organization works to end discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer identifying individuals and realize a world that achieves equality for all. Continue reading →
Between April 5th and 10th, 1971, the legendary American rock band Chicago performed and recorded eight shows at the world-famous Carnegie Hall. In October of that year, highlights from the performances were featured on the band’s first-ever live album, which is still the band’s best-selling live album to date. To honor the 50th anniversary of these historic concerts, Chicago is releasing all eight Carnegie Hall shows in their entirety in a new 16-CD deluxe boxed set, fully restored and mixed on a classic SSL 4064 G+ console.
However, restoring and mixing these 50-year-old performances was no easy task. Tim Jessup, mix engineer and studio manager of Studio One Sixty Four (owned by Chicago founding member and trumpeter Lee Loughnane), recruited Vintage King to outfit the new studio with its SSL 4064 G Series console and multiple racks of analog outboard gear. In almost 20 years in Pro audio buying, never did I receive a unit so well packed and exactly as described. Works flawlessly. The whole process has been so smooth. I will never hesitate to do business with you guys in the future and will recommend you to everyone I know.
This was my first experience buying something from Vintage King (although I surf the "used" categories on the website frequently!), and, despite being on the other side of the world, I had absolutely no trouble and everything went very smoothly.
The speed of delivery exceeded my expectations! I was VERY pleased that my shipment arrived in time for a scheduled vocal tracking session. The packing insured that my order arrived safely. And the sales staff responded quickly to questions regarding the product.

My experience with Vintage King was excellent. The order was here fast considering it was out of stock. The sales person had SKB send it to me directly and I couldn't have been more pleased.
From the minute I placed my order I was kept well-informed through each step in your process. Even though I was buying a comparatively modest piece of gear, your attention to detail made me feel like I was purchasing a six-figure mixing desk.
I am a new customer of yours. You guys provided me the absolute best deals in ordering all the equipment to power my brand new recording studio. Your customer service is amazing and i will always deal with you from here on out.
