The Varsity amplifier is designed to give you a portable and powerful amplifier in a unique and authentic package. This amp was designed with respect for the original Majestic Magnatone sound we all remember from classic recordings.
The Magnatone Varsity is simply an incredible amp. The overdriven tones are as they were advertised: "to die for". But one thing I was extremely surprised to find out is that this amp sounds absolutely immaculate when played clean. Also making it an incredible pedal platform, there is not a single type of pedal this amp cannot handle! With all the praise about the OD I thought I was going to doodle never ending Zeppelin style solos with the volume cranked, but in reality, I can't stop playing jazz on this thing! The fit and finish of this amp is simply perfect, worth every single penny. In fact, if I can be completely honest, I'd understand it if this amp were more expensive. In the end, I have no complaints about this amp. It does everything I could ever want. Now excuse me, I'm going to end this review so I can get back to playing through my Magnatone! (Quick shout out to Allan Fullerton for making the buying experience simple and care free and answering every question that I could come up with! Impeccable service!)
