New & Current Vintage King Card Holders
The Lynx Studio Technology Aurora (n) line represents a quantum leap in the performance, flexibility, channel count and features of available A/D and D/A converters — and in value. The 1RU modular platform, a complete redesign of the original Aurora, is available here with 24 channel line I/O and HDX connectivity.
The LT-HD2 is specifically designed for the Aurora (n) range of converter/interfaces. The LT-HD2 takes advantage of the new SychroLock 2 clock and additional FPGA resources of the Aurora (n) to provide better stability in the ProTools|HD environment while supporting longer cable lengths. The LT-HD2 card allows the Aurora (n) to emulate the interface characteristics of the Avid HD I/O converter, allowing seamless operation with Avid systems including HDX and HD Native.
Thousands of studios worldwide have adopted Lynx converters as their standard, for its pristine audio quality, versatility and value. This updated LT-HD2 card gives even more versatility to the Aurora (n) platform.
The LT-HD2 allows Lynx converters to be used in all current ProTools|HD systems. Connected via mini-Digilink cables to HD Core, Accel Core, HDX or Native cards, Pro Tools recognizes the Aurora (n) converter and controls all input and output functions, clocking, routing and other settings.
This is a truly plug and play system. LT-HD2’s hardware and on-board software streamlines ProTools set-up, bringing Aurora (n)’s audio quality and channel count to the ProTools system. LT-HD2 provides signal latency identical to that of the Avid converter for accurate delay compensation within ProTools – no manual delay adjustments are required.
The LT-HD2 contains one Primary and one Expansion mini-DigiLink port. Aurora supports full channel count at sample rates up to 192 kHz. You do not lose half of your channels at higher sample rates and you do not need to purchase additional expensive modules for full channel counts. ProTools users can now benefit from Lynx’s exclusive SynchroLock 2 word clock for very low jitter and low distortion of digital signals.
Signal coloration is additive and can kill an otherwise pristine mix. That’s why a colored mix begins to collapse while the transparent mix has space, definition and a level of detail that is simply unattainable with converters that add color and distortion. Lynx’s hallmark sonic transparency is why Lynx converters are being used in the most mission-critical audio applications and in the world’s finest recording facilities. Lynx converters have been specified for their uncanny ability to convert signals without adding any artifacts or color.
For audio engineers and producers demanding the most pristine recordings and mixes Lynx is the converter of choice at facilities like Dolby’s new mega complex of audio research, Skywalker Sound, NPR, and the Smithsonian Institute. Lynx converters pass the most stringent tests and shoot outs to become the sought after converters for these discerning professionals. Precision matters more than ever and there is no place for even the slightest coloration or degradation of the signal.
Some manufacturers use multiple converters on a single chip. While that is one way to fit many converter channels in a single rack space while lowering costs, it comes at a steep cost in performance. At Lynx, the analog signal path for each channel has been designed as a self-contained and shielded circuit. Each channel pair has its own dedicated conversion device. This has many sonic advantages by significantly reducing crosstalk and distortion while increasing dynamic range and performance.
Design and technology borrowed from the development of the Hilo is used to significantly improve specifications and transparency over previous models while attaining stunning Hilo-like performance.
All new SynchroLock 2 high-performance sample clock technology provides a whopping 300,000:1 reduction in jitter, 5 second lock time and absolute accuracy. Word clock I/O provides one input and three outputs on BNC connectors.

We upgraded from the original Aurora units, including a pair of 16 channel units and a pair of 8 channel units, to a pair of 24 channel (n) units.
We are using our 48 channel system with a fully loaded API 1608 console allowing 40 I/Os well as outboard channels into an HDX system.
The user interface is the most apparent improvement but I think the multi track clarity, stereo imaging and definition are audibly improved in comparison to the original units.
But, the primary reason for our purchase was the support we have received from Lynx over the course of several years. We have changed from usb to thunderbolt to PT HDX and each time were given thorough and prompt support from Lynx.
They have been rock solid, simple to use, and sonically fantastic. They disappear so that sessions take place without thinking about the technology.
We also have a HILO unit in our mastering suite and the same comments apply.
Excellent customer service. Well built product.
