The Red Overdrive is a dark and dirty overdrive circuit using the same JRC-4558 op-amp as the original TS-808 Tube Screamer, but Lotus’ circuit is quite different from your standard 808 clone. Each gain stage of the JRC-4558 is individually voiced like a vintage two-knob studio preamp, giving both gain stages unique overdrive characteristics for a truly monstrous tone. Like the White Overdrive, the Red circuit foregoes a tone control for optimum touch sensitivity, leaving dynamics and tone up to your fingers and those knobs on your guitar. We think the Red Overdrive dishes up gobs of gain that cause a good tube amp to deliver vintage as well as modern overdriven tones, and, when paired with Lotus’ White Overdrive, cover the gamut of Rawkin’ big amp tones from a little 18-Watt studio amp
