The Looptrotter Audio Emperor Limiter is an analog dynamic processor which, depending on the settings, can act as a compressor, limiter or harmonic distortion generator. It was designed with the idea of creating original, live, analog sound of instruments, subgroups as well as the whole mix.
Emperor Limiter is a creative device that gives the sound a strong, analog character. It is not a transparent device. Emperor Limiter in a unique way strengthens the perceived volume, warms and brightens the audio signal, which depends on the DRIVE level setting.
The heart of Emperor Limiter is the FET transistor responsible for signal reduction and adding a small number of low order harmonics, and its design is inspired by early limiters and transistor compressors from the 60s. In addition, Emperor Limiter contains many original solutions, supported by many years of experience in the construction of dynamic processors by Looptrotter, guaranteeing an original and unique sound.
Emperor Limiter has two independently operating filters in the control circuit. Thanks to this, it gives you the ability to create timbre without any undesired phase shifts: when trimming low frequencies in the control signal, Emperor Limiter behaves more clearly and naturally in the case of signals with high intensity of low frequencies such as foot or bass. This way you can reduce the low-frequency distortions and pumping effect; by conquering high frequencies in the Emperor Limiter control signal, it behaves like an analog de-esser or a very fast compressor for bright, dynamic instruments.
Emperor Limiter has three factory set attack/return times: FAST - the fastest setting of CPU attack and return time, causes Emperor to behave like a limiter. This setting allows for rich, dense saturation of the input signal; MED - this setting makes the EMPEROR LIMITER behave like a fast compressor; SLOW - this setting causes the Emperor Limiter to behave more like an analog compressor than a limiter.
Emperor Limiter also has independent regulation of the pure DRY signal and the processed WET. Thanks to this, you can decide if you only slightly tint the audio tracks while maintaining the original dynamics, or you will let the signal through the Emperor Limiter 100%.
The Emperor's signal path is 100% analog, but all signal switches and potentiometers are digitally controlled. The LINK function causes that both channels are controlled from the level of the left channel. The 1% potentiometers used guarantee the exact concurrency of both channels. Emperor Limiter is a reliable analog device, precise in operation.
