The DPA Microphones N-HH1-SL1-B-4018VL pairs the N-Series handheld transmitter with the d:facto 4018VL Linear Vocal Microphone. The d:facto series brings true studio sound to the live stage and broadcasting studio. This version is extremely linear, engineered specifically for audio engineers who prefer setting their own unique impression on the final sound.
To get the highest possible dynamic range the N-Series uses stacked converter technology and optimized circuitry around the input stage and A/D conversion. This is how the system offers the best audio performance. Having a higher dynamic range means that you do not have to dial in a gain or amplification on the transmitter. Therefore, there is no need to set the gain on the transmitter. In addition, as the system is digital, optimum RF signal is obtained without having to secure maximum modulation. The original signal is preserved throughout the system. It is possible to adjust the level coming out of the receiver per channel, but this is done in the digital domain, i.e., it is an offset of the incoming signal and thus referred to as digital TRIM.
The bodypack transmitters have plenty of headroom, so there is no need to adjust input gain or the like. For this reason, you cannot adjust the audio levels on the transmitters. It is, however, possible to change the level via an offset of the signal to balance sources with each other, but this is all done in the digital domain and thus referred to as digital TRIM via a knob on the receiver. The analog outputs (if installed) allow users to adjust the analog reference to suit the system that the signal is being fed into. This is all done via the Receiver Menu.
N-Series is a fully digital, true diversity, wideband system that features the renowned DPA-quality sound. The pristine sound picked up from DPA microphones deserves to reach the next stage of processing in the sound chain safely and unaltered. The N-Series Digital Wireless Systems ensures that the clear, true sound moves up the chain effortlessly, without any unwanted flavor added to the original sound.
The system is based on a true diversity set-up, also known as radio diversity, where the two antennas are internally hooked up to two radio circuitries. Each antenna input has its own radio. This differs from systems that offer antenna-diversity where there is only one built-in radio which must shift between the two antennas. DPA is offering a solution that spans from 470 MHz to 870 MHz – a 400 MHz span – which is quite unusual for wireless systems. This makes the N-Series extremely flexible, allowing users to quickly find space for channels in even the most densely RF populated areas. It also protects your investment against frequency shuffles made by governmental bodies from time to time.
N-Series is fully digital – born digital – not developed analog and modified to digital. This means that the signal is treated with the highest possible integrity throughout the wireless transmission. Unlike many manufacturers that use incomplete ways of measuring, DPA’s true dynamic range is made in one measurement without applying level changes or using a limiter. N-Series offers a true 126 dB of dynamic range, which is leading in the industry. The N-Series takes security of data seriously, offering AES256 encryption for privacy, which is paramount when using a wireless system in a corporate or governmental environment.
