Lewitt DTP 340 TT Dynamic Microphone

Supercardioid dynamic instrument microphone designed specifically for use on the toms, snares and amplifiers

MFR# DTP340TT

Product Description

The Lewitt DTP 340 TT is a dynamic microphone designed to accurately capture the sound of drums and percussion instruments. Its supercardioid polar pattern ensures maximum isolation of your instrument for studio and live applications.

Detailed and punchy sound for drums and amplifiers.

Lewitt designed the DTP 340 TT to accurately capture the sound of your drums and percussion instruments with maximum clarity. This results in authentic instrumental sounds with sonic detail and character.

The DTP 340 TT gives you a well-balanced drum sound, in the studio and onstage. The supercardioid pattern reduces bleed coming from the other parts of your kit. As a result, you get a focused sound with punch and clarity. On top of that, the DTP 340 TT also sounds fantastic on guitar cabinets and its compact size helps to keep things tidy.

To assure your beloved microphone survives drops and unintended hits, Lewitt make the enclosure out of durable zinc die-cast parts. A rubber-suspension protects the capsule while minimizing structure-borne noise.

First, Vintage King is the best! Jeff stood behind me when I had problems (and Lewitt & their distributors would not help), and VK accepted the returns of the mics for full refund without question. I will not hesitate to buy again from VK, and heartily recommend them. In terms of Lewitt mics:

I REALLY wanted to like these microphones; the 340TT tom mics were recommended by a couple of sources that I trust. They sound great on toms. However, these mics are truly not road-ready. For the rigours of touring work. First, 2 of the 3 clips for the mics were stripped on arrival. Worse, the rim clamps are poorly designed. I own 3 high-end drum sets (including a brand new Sonor Pro-Lite kit) and my drummer (who has toured the world with several big name acts) owns more than a dozen vintage and modern kits. 3 of us — me, him, and an experienced FOH engineer — tried to find a way to use the clamps and clips and could not get them to stay out of the way enough on mounted or floor toms. When I tried to lock them into the tightest position they actually distorted the shells de-tuned the drums. Lewitt have a straight sliding adjustment, and a curved one would likely be all that is needed, but that’s not what you get. We had to use Sennheisers on the first night, and stands with the 340s on the remaining nights, which defeats the purpose of having rim clamps. Plus, you cannot even fit the mic on the clip and bracket in the bag, so plan to waste time taking this apart and putting it back together each time you use it.

For the record, I sent all of my Lewitt mics back to VK, and purchased from Jeff and VK a kit including some sE V-beat microphones. Intelligent design and implementation that is truly road-ready (and has none of the problems identified above).

I have only recently discovered Lewitt mics. All I can say is they are a great value and the quality and sound is very impressive. I will continue to use them and will try other models as the need arises. Glad I made the choice to try them out!

Great mics. Every bit as good as a 421 in my opinion. For like... half the price.

This was my first experience buying something from Vintage King (although I surf the "used" categories on the website frequently!), and, despite being on the other side of the world, I had absolutely no trouble and everything went very smoothly.
