The Kerwax VM-124 is a mono vari-mu tube compressor inspired by the iconic EMI RS124 compressor. The original RS124 was a redesign of the Altec 436B and was first built in 1959 by EMI engineers to their exacting standards. This compressor was a major component to Abbey Road's legendary sound and was featured prominently on recordings by The Zombies, The Shadows, and The Beatles. Kerwax's VM-124 comes in a 2U rack-mount chassis and delivers vintage compression full of warmth, depth, and vibe - it's perfect for smoothing vocal tracks or enhancing the richness of bass or acoustic instruments. It can also be used as a mix bus compressor for adding some glue to the mix. It employs two 6N1P and one 6AL5 vacuum tubes and UTM transformers for input and output. Attack, Release, and Output controls allow you to fine-tune your mix. The VM-124 is the perfect way to add vintage-inspired compression to a modern studio.
