The Kali Audio SM-5-C is a three-way passive monitor that combines the spatial imaging benefits of a point-source loudspeaker with the neutral frequency response of a three-way system. The Kali SM-5-C features coaxial midrange and high-frequency drivers for point-source sound in the critical frequency range above 280 Hz. The offset 5-inch woofer’s optimized placement and crossover frequency mean that it is never out of summation with the midrange, effectively making the SM-5-C a full-range point source monitor for all practical purposes.
The precision-engineered midrange baffle helps eliminate artifacts in the frequency response, while the 1-inch aluminum dome tweeter features unique geometry that prevents ultrasonic resonance, reducing harshness and fatigue. The woofer’s magnetic flux-reducing design, along with an anti-turbulence low-frequency port tube, give the SM-5-C smooth, distortion-free performance down to 39 Hz.
Mounting points on the top and bottom allow for a variety of installation configurations using a custom U-bracket from Triad-Orbit or any speaker mount with a 4.25-by-2-inch bolt pattern and 21 lb capacity. While the passive SM-5-C is compatible with any suitable amplifier, downloadable tuning files for LEA Connect Series amplifiers provide optimal performance. When paired with Dante-enabled LEA Connect amplifiers (we recommend the CONNECT 354D), the SM-5-C is an ideal choice for large multichannel systems where accuracy and practicality are paramount.
