The Jomox Alpha Base is the most versatile drum machine and sequencer to date from Jomox. Expanded on the classic CBASE 09, 999 and 888, the Alpha Base is equipped with eleven instruments, a full sequencer, MIDI/USB/SD-Card capabilities, two ¼’ inputs, as well as two balanced outputs.
The two ¼” inputs can be used for sampling your favorite record or works great to record live electric guitar, electric bass, keyboards or any line level up to +2 dBu. The two inputs can also be used to add external effects or side chain functions.
The Jomox Alpha Base come stocked with 250 samples at 16-bit/48 kHz loaded into the internal flash memory. If any additional storage is needed, an SD card slot is included allowing infinite expansion of the drum machine.
I have an 888 as well. This unit has really great sound and features. The bass isn't hitting as hard, but the mbrane, fm synth and SEQ of notes are really awesome. The Chain feature is great as well. It doesn't do individual edits that 888 has, hopefully that will come in the future. The p-Locks work well, but not as fully functional as the individual edit in my opinion. I thought this would replace my 888, instead I am keeping them both and I find myself using them together as they are totally different beasts at this time. There may be more features of the 888 coming to the AB in the future, making the 888 less needed, but for now it is the greatest thing out there. If you used 888 midi tracks, the AB does it to with any instrument and Seq function. IE, it will transmit on MIDI 10, for x-sample 1 transmitting notes via the SEQ function.
Modern 808/909 fusion. Seems to be working properly so far!
