Whether you’re searching for the sound of down and dirty Chicago blues or the powerhouse guitar tones of 1970s England, the JHS SuperBolt perfectly encapsulates the sound of the amplifiers used by the guitar heroes from these bygone eras. Imagine getting the cutting tones of Jimmy Page’s playing on “Communication Breakdown” or Brian Setzer on “Rumble In Brighton.” JHS has distilled the power of the amps used on these recordings into a single guitar pedal.
The SuperBolt’s controls are fairly simple, making it ideal for dialing in the tone you want to achieve. Use the pedal’s Drive knob like it’s a volume control on a small vintage amp and you’ll be able to get a dirtier sound as you crank it. The true Volume knob can be utilized as a master control, which ensures that your tone is right while allowing you to back off if you’re too loud. On most vintage amps, there is a tone control knob, and thus the SuperBolt features one. However, JHS has ditched the extreme treble of older amplifiers and offers a perfect range of tone from sharp to well-focused.
Further giving you the ability to craft your sound, the SuperBolt comes equipped with a Hi/Low toggle switch that acts like the input jacks on many classic amplifiers. With the switch in the Hi position, players can immerse themselves in the sounds of true rock via soaring upper mids, grittier sound and massive amounts of headroom. The Low position offers a more relaxed take on the SuperBolt’s sound by giving the player a cleaner, darker and more mellowed out tone.
No matter the genre you play, JHS has created the SuperBolt to be a versatile tool for any guitar player’s pedal board. Not only does this one pedal capture the sound of the vintage amps of the 50s and 60s, but it delivers an overdrive with a wide range of grit without compression. Just need a boost or want your amp to sound like Crazy Horse’s backline? The SuperBolt has you covered.
