The Fryette PS-2A Power Station is an all-tube reactance amplifier and attenuator that gives guitarists precise volume control without sacrificing tone. This multi-function desktop power amp functions as an attenuator for high-powered amp heads, a gain boost for low-powered rigs, and an adjustable load box, all in one compact package. With a variety of inputs and outputs, the Fryette PS-2A can handle any instrument or signal source; you can use it as a mono power amplifier for a modeling amp, re-amp tracks through your favorite tube amps at low volumes, or use Silent Mode for practice or direct recording. The PS-2A’s attenuator mode lets you crank high-powered amplifiers to achieve the best possible tone while keeping the actual output volume at reasonable levels. Simply connect your amp’s speaker output to the Power Station’s Amp In jack, select the matching impedance (2/4, 8, or 16 ohms), and use the front-panel Volume control to set your desired level. Integrated reactance technology preserves the natural harmonics and dynamic response of the attenuated amplifier, so you can get full-throated tone even at whisper-quiet volumes.
In Booster mode, the Fryette Power Station PS-2A transforms any low-wattage small amp, preamp, or amp modeler into a 50-watt tube powerhouse. Patch your amp’s speaker output into the Power Station and use the Hi/Lo Input Level switch to match the signal. Crank the connected amplifier’s output to achieve rich power-tube distortion, then use the Fryette PS2 A's master Volume to control overall loudness. This expands the tonal possibilities of mini amps and pedal platforms, letting you capture natural tube breakup without a massive, overpowered rig.
The Fryette Power Station PS-2A uses reactive technology and selectable impedance to ensure optimal tone and performance with virtually any amp and cabinet combination. Unlike simple resistive load boxes, it reacts dynamically to emulate the frequency-dependent load of a real speaker, ensuring authentic tone and feel that responds to your playing. The rear-panel Speaker and Amplifier Impedance Select switches make it easy to dial in the appropriate impedance even with mismatched amp/speaker combinations.
Turning your DI guitar tracks into authentic amp tones is effortless with the Fryette Power Station PS-2A’s re-amping capabilities. Just send the line-level signal from your DAW into the 1/4" Line In jack, adjust the tone controls, and send the signal to your amp head or straight to a cabinet. Use the Fryette Power Station PS-2A's effects loop to add guitar pedals or line-level processors to your signal and enjoy the flexibility of recording multiple outputs, including two different cabinets for stereo or dual mono amp setups.
Silent Mode on the Fryette Power Station PS-2A makes late-night practice and direct-to-DAW recording a breeze. Activate Bypass on the front panel to disable the internal power amp and maintain a safe load on your amplifier, then use the Balanced Line Out XLR or Unbalanced 1/4” Line Out to feed your mixer, interface, or PA while completely bypassing the speaker cab. With the option of truly silent operation, the Fryette Power Station PS-2A delivers authentic tube tone so you can record or rehearse in any environment without disturbing others.
These Fryette attenuators are the best out there. I had 4 different high end attenuators prior to getting my Fryette's (yeah I have two). Since I tried the Fryette i found no need for those lther ones so I sold every one of them. If you're considering one of these, get it. You definitely won't regret it.

Lives up to the hype. Sounds much better than any other method for attenuation that I've tried over the years. Post guitar power amp effects loop is a further bonus. Top notch.
With the Neural DSP and Fractal stuff, the only downside I see to modelers is not having the punch behind you. The power amp section of the Fryette is perfect for running a modeler (without an IR) through a tube amp and physical cab. This is exactly what I do with it, while also running a separate output with an IR to the mixing board. I that a lot people get the modeler to avoid having to lug around a cab, but being able to use a single PA with a cab for multiple virtual “amps" is fantastic. If you rely on backline gear, adding this to what you bring will give you a lot of consistency. While it wasn’t the primary reason I bought it, I have tried the active attenuation feature as well: it is the most transparent attenuator that I have heard, besting a certain very popular device named for a pack animal. For the price, the Fryette PS2 is definitely worth it for either or both of these uses.

I’ve owned all the attenuators… the aracom is my fav for transparency. This one is right up there and the eq control is very useful. Using with an ac30 tbx… adding a bit of bottom end with the eq control. Sounds good turned way down too. Top notch. I’ve not used it to boost a low wattage amp.
