Initially developed in the mid 70s, the Inovonics 201 signal processor used a unique discrete VCA circuit, originally designed for use in mastering audio cassettes, to control the high frequencies on program content. The circuitry proved to be well-suited for the radio industry to use in FM pre-emphasis limiting.
