The IGS Audio One LA 500 is an opto-compressor built for the 500 series format. This is the first high voltage vacuum tube 500 series module that is offered by IGS. It is powered with 250V DC from an on-board voltage converter, so it can be plugged into any 500 series rack equipped with a standard power supply.
Every single One LA is hand made with high quality, matched components (1% metal film resistors, Wima caps). It is equipped with JJ tubes and individually calibrated to give you the unique and unspoiled experience of one of the best opto-compressors in the history - the TneA, to make sure that it is as simple to use as it is versatile. Not only for harmonically rich vocals and strings, but also for huge and beefy drums and bass instruments.
Three audio transformers (Sowter and Edcor in audio path and OEP in sidechain) have been used to provide excellent performance and with only two knobs and a single compressor/limiter switch, there is nothing that could go wrong. Additionally, you can replace the photocell easily.
I didn’t know what to really expect as I’m building my hybrid studio- this is my first tube based compressor and holy smokes it makes vocals, acoustic and bass sound amazing! I actually tracked an entire song with this using my 1073 pre into this and it’s one of the best recordings I’ve done in my home studio! Highly highly recommend!

My journey for the LA2 sound has been fairly arduous. I came across the IGS One LA while looking at other units. I’ve tried the Manley ELOP, Audioscape Opto, and both the Warm and Klark offerings. The Manley is clean and nice- but doesn’t have the color I was looking for. The Audioscape has color, but I felt the gain staging was strange and I couldn’t get a good preamp to compressor relationship going. The Warm and Klark have nice color but sounded cheap next to the IGS. I really like the One LA. It pairs nicely with my Avedis MA5 and even makes my Apogee preamps sound great! I would highly recommend.
Great piece of gear. I compared it with the UAD LA2A Plugin, and the results were stunning! This is the second product I owned from IGS, with great sound quality.
Great 2A option for 500 series. One of my favorite clones. The meter is full size (which is nice for a 500 series unit) and the tube warmth is awesome. If you’re looking for the 2A sound with a small footprint, this is a great option.
