Heritage Audio 1073 80 Series Microphone Preamp

80 series Class A mic preamplifier featuring custom polystyrene and polypropylene film tone capacitors
MFR# HA1073

Product Description

The Heritage Audio 1073 has been engineered to fill the input module slots of vintage 80 Series sound mixing consoles. In case outboard fitting is preferred, the 1073 can be installed into the Heritage Audio Frame 8 and Rack 2 powered enclosures.

Special care has been taken in sourcing the correct components ensuring the closest performance to original units as possible. Custom polystyrene and polypropylene film tone capacitors have been developed to closely match the Siemens Styroflex and Mullard Mustard types of the late 60s/early 70s. Custom input transformers have also been co-designed with Carnhill Transformers' Oxford factory to Heritage's special requirements, ensuring correct harmonic distortion content and saturation points.

The Heritage Audio 1073 is entirely handmade in Heritage's facilities in Spain, employing the same original wiring and soldering techniques of the 70s. Heritage's mater builders take several day to manufacture a single module. All circuitry is held in four plug-in cards.

I absolutely love these HA1073s. I’ve used them constantly since they arrived. They feel superbly made, the circuits inside look like boutique hardwired guitar amps, with all discrete components. I of course use them as mic preamps and they sound fantastic, but I’ve really enjoyed the EQs on them just as much. They make everything sound better in the mix once you dial in and cut or boost the frequencies you want to effect. They work as great line amps as well and you can run a mix through a pair and add heft and/or EQ. The Rack 2 power supply is equally as excellent and altogether a pair of these 1073s inside the rack is a joy and inspiration to use. Could not be happier.

This was my first experience buying something from Vintage King (although I surf the "used" categories on the website frequently!), and, despite being on the other side of the world, I had absolutely no trouble and everything went very smoothly.
