The Handsome Audio Zulu is a 500 Series tape simulator module with 4 tape formulas, 3 tape machine types, and an upgraded internal Bias circuit that controls frequency-based compression and saturation. The Bias B button controls two ranges of upper mids and highs and an updated Enhance control (with expanded range of flexibility and the distinct vibe of the original) adds dry signal (with boosted upper mids and highs) back to the circuit in parallel. A modified 5-position machine Headroom control controls the operating point before saturation, compression and tone shaping occur. It also includes hardware bypass/ For those of you who don't own patch bays or simply wish to bypass Zulu, you can now take it out of the signal path with ease! All front panel controls are spring-loaded rotary switches for excellent recall. All units are mono. Channels are precision-matched.

Zulu 500 is fully passive and does not require an external power supply or phantom power to function. Simply connect it to a signal source (converters, mixer, microphone preamp, compressor) and drive the input with level! Zulu 500 is compatible with all standard 500 Series chassis. It features a revolutionary solution to install 500 Series units - the Brass Knuckle platform. Developed by Langston Masingale, the Brass Knuckle allows the EDAC connection to live on a flexible ribbon cable, making installation for 500 Series units completely independent from the installation of the actual module itself.
