The Grace Design m905 Analog is comes without the built-in DAC of the m905. This system is offered for users who already have an investment in DACs, whether standalone or built into their interface. System configuration is exactly the same, with all the same great monitoring features, except no digital inputs and an second pair of balanced analog inputs. The m905 Analog brings this world class performance into reach of almost any engineer or recording studio. Also, users can always upgrade their m905 Analog to the Digital version at anytime.
The main unit is provided in the same exact rack-mount enclosure, and comes with the standard, beautiful m905 hardware remote. On the input side, the m905 Analog is configured with two sets of balanced analog input pairs via XLR connectors, and an unbalanced stereo pair on RCA jacks.
Sonic performance of the m905 is, of course, identical to the m905 except that there’s no digital section. There is one other change: in order to keep costs in check, the hardware remote will come with a 25 foot cable made from CAT5 cabling. This will mean that the headphone output on the hardware remote will not be operational. The headphone out on the rack unit will be fully functional. This cable, if needed, can be upgraded.
The IR Control Option is a user-installable front panel and headphone jack for the Remote Control Unit (RCU) that, when installed, allows users to control m905 and m905 Analog functions from an m903RCU, an Apple remote, or iOS/Android equipped phones and tablets. If a user wants this functionality from a phone and/or tablet, they will also need to purchase a device called the Harmony remote, which is made by Logitech. This is a WIFI-Infrared product that contains the control codes for the m905.
This IR option does NOT replace the m905 hardware remote, but works as a wireless option in conjunction with the standard remote.
The premium cable upgrade is a 25' cable for the RCU headphone port on the m905 Reference Monitor Controller.
