The studio microphone Gefell M 930 Ts unifies approved large diaphragm capsule technology with an optimized output transformer and a new developed circuit design. That attains a signal transmission with negligible distortion combined with a lower low frequency response, a very low noise floor and a high sound pressure level even at high external load. The M 930 Ts capsule can be found in the M 930, UM930, and UM930 Twin. It has a 32mm outside diameter, with a diaphragm diameter of 28mm. The capsule is shockmounted within the headbasket, reducing the microphone’s sensitivity to structure-born noise.
I've been an audio producer and voice talent for 35 years, and I keep an arsenal of voice-over microphones at my disposal for the various types of work; commercial, audiobooks, corporate narrations, etc., all require a slightly different style of microphone to provide the best results for that purpose. The M930 Ts is articulate, but not as edgy as a some other mics I regularly use: a Brauner Phantom and a Sennheiser 416, for example. (In VO, "edgy" can be a good thing and an often sought-after quality, but not universally desireable on every project). Those other mics are both more articulate and forward, but with less warmth and silk. By comparison, the M930 Ts is smooth, with great warmth. But also honest and clear. The M930 Ts is clearly a polished and modern performer; there's nothing "classic", "vintage", or "tubey" about it. Which is the perfect scenario for the vast majority of VO assignments. I don't know how much attention Gefell paid to the specifics of spoken word when designing the architecture of this mic, but it sounds like it was a lot. Maybe they just got lucky, or maybe the knew all along what a great VO tool this would be. No matter, all I know is that I feel very fortunate to have one in my locker.
