Gefell’s M270 is a small-diaphragm, omnidirectional condenser microphone. It consists of the SMS 2000 preamp body with the detachable M27 omni capsule.The M27 Omnidirectional capsule contains a half-inch (~13mm) gold-plated diaphragm in an ~18mm-diameter ceramic housing. The preamp circuit utilizes Gefell’s low-noise, transformer-less design, and offers on-board switches for a -10dB pad and a high-pass filter.The M270 provides the flattest response of the three SMS2000-series mics; it is flat to 3kHz, then rises to +6dB at 10kHz. This deliberate presence peak provides additional clarity and “brilliance” for ambient (“far-field”) recordings.Available separately are cardioid and hypercardioid capsules.
