Switch between SuperAnalogue and VHD preamps for classic SSL character or variable distortion, tame transients with the fast-attack VCA compressor, and choose from SSL G Series or E Series EQ to sweeten your sound. With all the tools you need in one place, plus flexible routing, linking, and sidechain options, the Solid State Logic Super 9000 channel strip brings the brand's signature sound and versatility to any tracking or mixing session.

SUPERANALOGUE DESIGN

Built on Solid State Logic’s SuperAnalogue technology, the Super 9000 channel strip offers a clean, open signal path with tons of headroom. With a ruler flat frequency response, ultra low distortion, and extremely low noise, the Super 9000 channel strip delivers total transparency. Whatever the session calls for, the Super 9000 channel strip integrates seamlessly with modern studio gear while retaining the timeless sonic character associated with SSL consoles.

SUPERANALOGUE OR VHD PREAMPS

Just like an SSL Duality console, the Solid State Logic Super 9000 channel strip gives you a choice between the classic SuperAnalogue preamp or the edgier VHD (Variable Harmonic Drive) preamp. The default SuperAnalogue circuit offers clean gain and flat frequency response, while VHD introduces transistor-style harmonics and saturation.

The Input Flip button lets you route the VHD circuit to the line input for adding harmonics to DAW stems or line-level signals from external gear. With two distinct preamp flavors in one channel strip, the Solid State Logic Super 9000 gives you the freedom to experiment with different tones for different sources, whether you're tracking or mixing.

VARIABLE HARMONIC DRIVE (VHD)

The Variable Harmonic Drive (VHD) circuit sweeps between 2nd- and 3rd-order harmonics, letting you dial in anything from gentle tube-like warmth to more aggressive transistor-style edge. Four LEDs indicate the intensity of the effect so you can visually monitor the saturation level at all times. Because VHD can be applied to the Mic or Line input via the Input Flip function, it’s equally effective for tracking or mixing. From subtle breakup to gritty distortion, VHD makes the Solid State Logic Super 9000 an extremely versatile channel strip.

FULL DYNAMICS PROCESSING

Built around SSL's THAT 2181A VCA compressor circuit, the dynamics section of the Solid State Logic Super 9000 channel strip offers switchable fast attack, peak-detect mode, and precise control over threshold, ratio, and release. The Expander/Gate includes variable hysteresis and a Hold control for tight gating and smooth expansion. Plus, stereo linking allows you to use two Solid State Logic Super 9000 units for stereo tracks and bus processing.

PINK (292) AND BLACK (242) EQ CIRCUITS AND FILTERS

As for the EQ section, the Solid State Logic Super 9000 channel strip features a four-band EQ circuit with two distinct voicings to choose from: the G Series “Pink Knob” (292) and E Series “Black Knob” (242). "Pink Knob" mode provides variable Q on the mid bands and steeper HF/LF shelving with musical undershoot/overshoot at hinge frequencies, while "Black Knob" mode features fixed-Q on the mid bands for surgical cuts and precise problem solving. Additional "G+3" and "Gx3" settings extend the mid-band ranges for even more versatility, and the EQ can be routed into the dynamics sidechain for frequency-dependent compression. The Super 9000 also features high- and low-pass filters (18 dB/octave HPF and 12 dB/octave LPF), which can be placed in the input path or the dynamics sidechain for flexible tone-shaping.

FLEXIBLE PROCESSING AND ROUTING

Inspired by classic SSL console channel strips, the Solid State Logic Super 9000 features console-style routing options, including a dedicated insert point, external sidechain input, switchable EQ routing, and sidechain linking. The balanced insert can be moved from its default input position to the output stage, enabling seamless integration of external processors. Flexible processing order and sidechain routing functions let you rearrange the signal chain or use filters and EQ in the compressor’s detector circuit for advanced ducking and de-essing techniques.
