Product Description

The Josephson Engineering C706 is a versatile studio microphone using a variant of the large diameter, dual-diaphragm cardioid capsule and the same discrete FET cascode input circuit and active balanced transformerless output circuit of the C716. The capsule, using 5 micron gold-metallized diaphragms and precision machined internal surfaces, provides a smooth and extended high end, detailed midrange and the controlled proximity effect characteristic of dual-diaphragm mics.

A STUDIO WORKHORSE

The C706 is not only great for vocals, it’s also excellent for instrument and ensemble pickup, and works well with a variety of preamps and input stages, due to its low output impedance. The housing is made of case-hardened steel with a unique offset grille support structure that greatly reduces internal reflections, avoiding the harshness of many large-diaphragm mics.

RUGGED DESIGN

The entire capsule assembly is internally shock-mounted, so the microphone can be attached directly to a stand through its yoke mount. The black finish from the hardening process is very rugged for long life in studio and stage applications. The design of the C706 continues the tradition of Josephson Series Seven microphones, at a lower cost due to using a steel housing with a rugged industrial finish rather than a cosmetic plated finish on brass, and an output connector on the microphone body rather than an attached output cable.

JOSEPHSON ENGINEERING C706 FEATURES:

  • Studio condenser microphone with large diameter, dual-diaphragm cardioid capsule
  • Discrete FET cascode input circuit and active balanced transformerless output circuit of the C716 mic
  • Capsule constructed from 5 micron gold-metallized diaphragms and precision machined internal surface
  • Low output impedance makes it compatible with a variety of preamps and input stages
  • Hardened steel with a unique offset grille support structure reduces internal reflections
