While the CLA-Sub is designed to be a perfect match for the CLA-series of white cone studio monitors, its filter options make it a fantastic sub for any recording studio or home theatre. The CLA-Sub can be configured in either downward-firing or frontward-firing modes to best suit the acoustics of your mix room. Simply remove and reattach the rubber feet to deploy the configuration that best serves your room and your music.

• Front-firing mode provides the cleanest possible reproduction from CLA-Sub, as the woofer does not couple with the floor of the room
• Downward-firing mode deliberately takes advantage of coupling to the room to increase output by +3 dB

The CLA-Sub’s repositionable feet employ a special vibration-dampening material that minimizes the mechanical coupling between the CLA-Sub in your room to reduce sympathetic vibrations that can color the playback of your mix. No aftermarket acoustic isolation pads required!

EXCLUSIVE DUAL-MAGNET DRIVER FOR CLARITY AND VOLUME

At the heart of CLA-Sub is Avantone's custom dual-magnet driver, not available in any other speaker. Every element of the custom driver was designed to minimize distortion while increasing output volume. Other manufacturers’ subwoofers will often deliver as much low-end as possible through deliberate distortion and coloration. This approach can cause signals to be perceived as louder, when they in fact just have more harmonic content through distortion. Avantone took the opposite approach with their custom driver ensuring that it delivers clean, clear bass at shockingly high volume. 
First, its stacked dual ferrite magnet design grants CLA-Sub the power to push and pull air with more efficiency and control than comparable drivers. To avoid harmonics and overtones, Avantone experimented with several cone substrates before settling on a particularly rigid paper that minimizes distortions while still providing a quick, snappy transient response. With CLA-Sub, you’ll hear the low end of your tracks with clarity and honesty.

CONFIGURATION OPTIONS FOR THE MOST DEMANDING STUDIOS

A sweepable high-cut control lets you dial in your crossover point from 50 - 180 Hz; the output low-cut filter lets you trim the fat at 80 or 100 Hz for the signal sent to your studio monitors. You also get phase and gain controls. A switchable power-saving standby mode is available, putting CLA-Sub into a power-efficient sleep mode after 30 minutes of inactivity. Locking XLR / ¼" TRS combo inputs keep your audio connections tight and secure, even when those 808 kicks are rattling the fillings in your teeth. CLA-Sub’s operation can be toggled using a footswitch for quick A/B comparisons of your mixes with and without the sub.
