Earthworks has created a simple, elegant, and repeatable system to mic drums which provides a dramatic improvement to the sound quality of more traditional multi-mic approaches. A good kick drum mic needs to be optimized for that role. Rather than create a special kick drum mic with tailored response and sensitivity making it unsuitable for other applications, Earthworks started with the cardioid SR25 and put the tone shaping, and attenuation in an external in-line module called "KickPad". Plug it in to get magnificent kick drum sound every time, and still have a full range SR25 for other recording. The set of three microphones comes with a "KickPad" and a windscreen in an elegant round wooden box. It is available in two models, the DK25/R is for “Recording” and has two TC25 omnis for overheads, an SR25 cardioid for kick drum, a KickPad™ and a windscreen. This model is ideal for use in an enclosed acoustic environment or a drum room/booth.
