Audeze headphones have revolutionized the recording industry. Many of today’s biggest hits were mixed, mastered, and tested with Audeze's headphones. Amazingly, the engineers and producers behind these hits had never used headphones in their workflow until they heard Audeze!
The Audeze LCD-X Headphone Creator Package is incredibly dynamic, nimble, neutral and transparent, accurately revealing everything on the recording. It quickly became the ultimate tool for recording engineers, musicians and audiophiles alike for its clean, accurate sound. The sense of space is enormous, the midrange and high frequencies offer fantastic detail so you can hear further into the recording with more air and separation between performers.
The LCD-X headphone is thoroughly engineered and meticulously hand-built using the finest, most luxurious materials combined with cutting-edge planar magnetic technology. Audeze closely match transducers and even match the earpads by leather texture and color. All earpads are filled with carefully chosen acoustical foam for best fit and sound. The LCD-X will play on portable devices but sounds best driven by a quality amplifier like the Deckard or The King Headphone Amplifier for best results.
You’ll be proud of how the LCD-X looks and sounds; it’s imbued with sophisticated looks and beautiful anodized aluminum rings that are manufactured at Audeze's facility. The quality of the entire structure guarantees years of trouble-free listening. The cutting-edge designs and circuit technologies have created a breathtakingly beautiful sounding headphone.
Clear and transparent, superior to other high quality headphones, for both mixing and mastering they are a rational alternative to high-quality monitors (I use Vocals and Dynaudios and Genelecs). Like my monitoring options they tell the truth, so you get great translation into other playback locations, and I cannot say that of many headphones. my Sennheiser HD-650s sound great, but the Audeze are far more accurate, especially in the upper mids and highs. the only drawback: They are HEAVY, so extended sessions with them can give your neck a workout.
A+ build quality, comfortable, easy to power. Deep, clear bass without hype, fantastic transient response and big, accurate overall soundstage. Mids are not too accurate but well-tuned for listening to for long periods without fatigue. Not a fan of using these with Sonarworks - would rather get used to the sound, but overall the translation of my masters after using it for only almost a month has already been great.
Pretty good cans
if you want to spend a thousand dollars on headphones this is the pair you should get
Very impressed with the clarity. Compared to my Senheiser HD800S - the LCD-X is my main reference point.
Very accurate mids but low frequencies are lacking
Truly remarkable detail at a reasonable price point. I use sonarworks headphone software and the combination gives me ALLOT of confidence when mixing. If you're looking for an analytical, yet very pleasant listening experience these are definitly worth serious consideration.
I was trying to find something for critical listening that wouldn’t break the bank. It was between getting barefoot monitors at four times the cost, and these. To me these are far more accurate than comparably priced studio monitors. Yes I would prefer to listen to barefoot monitors, but these actually produce a far more accurate sound than anything lower price than the barefoots. As some people say, they’re like wearing studio monitors on your head. Compared to the $500 range of headphones these are in a completely different class, and sound nothing like them (I tried about 20 pairs). And the more expensive headphones in the 3-4K range weren’t much better, and sometimes had unnecessarily harsh high frequencies (these have good capably accurate highs, same for bass response, these were the cheapest set that had accurate bass response. They don’t emohasize bass that isn’t there, but are capable of reproducing it when it is. For me this is the most critical part of a headphone. The cheaper sets either falsely emphasize bass or are incapable of pushing bass frequencies. I found the Adam AX7 studio monitors also had limited bass response for instance. The AX8 was a bit better, but not compared to barefoot. What I look for in a monitor is both accurate flat response AND ability to reproduce strong bass, because as a bass lover I’m just gonna keep cranking it till I hear it strong. So accuracy is key. Due to the impedance on this particular set, as its set up to work without a dedicated headphone amp if needed, the sound is slightly more excited than some of their other offerings. For me this is a big plus, as my personal taste doesn’t respond emotionally to headphones that don’t have that little extra speaker sparkle (?). Some ears may prefer their phones with the lower impedance. Personally I think these are where it’s at. I am listening through a proper headphone amp on the antelope pure2 interface, and regularly compare to barefoot monitors at my mix house. They aren’t the same, but I catch a lot of mistakes on these that I don’t on the barefoots because relative sound in a space feels different than relative sound on your head. What impressed me the most about these is the ability to discern different volume levels in a mix really really well. In the past I’ve found using cheaper headphones to mix the difference in levels didn’t come across as well, so you wouldn’t know till using a speaker where the levels really sat. I feel like I can make really good mix notes/decisions with these. After listening to everything out there, this is my go to set! (Also to note you’ll need a cheap closed back set for vocal recording, for the singer, these let a lot of sound into the room, although I’m using a 100 dollar set for that the Neumanns would be my first choice for closed phones in the 500 range)
The Audeze LCD-X is a game changer for me. I tried so many headphones before finally getting the chance to try these. Grado, Neumann, Audio Technica... etc. My one small complaint is that they’re a bit bulky and heavy but you definitely get what you paid for here! These headphones could survive a bomb. Tight low end and easy listening! Clarity and honest imaging! My mixes were elevated immediately!
Very heavy, but the revised headband makes them comfortable. Great sound and respond well to Soundworks processing. I have these and they are highly reccommended.
Solid set of headphones. Translation is great when your looking for that quality in a set of headphones.
I was looking for a pair of headphones that would help me mix on the road and have a more reliable reference in my transition to build my new mixing room, I knew it had to be High End headphones and pricier than the regular studio headphones I’ve used. I started asking around and found a couple of mastering and mixing engineers to be using Audeze, particularly the LCD-X. While the price was a bit high for my budget I decided to order and try them, these headphones are on another level in terms of detail and balanced sound, while not entirely flat they are extremely great sounding, balanced with deep lows but not overwhelming and very sweet highs. Its like hanging a pair of extremely expensive monitors on your ears. The first time I tried mixing using them I was surprised on how close the mix was and very little tweaking the song needed, I use Sonarworks but to be honest these headphones sound great just without Sonarworks as well, also they don’t ned tons of power amps to move, regular laptops and Apollos headphones amps will move the Audezee just fine as oposed to my Beyer or Senheiser that need a dedicated amp. Are these perfect? I don’t think so but these are the best headphones Ive tried so far, also the most expensive headphones I’ve tried. Cons? Heavy, not uncomfortable but they are heavy, a bit cumbersome to store and transport, and off course the price, but again any Hi End studio monitor speaker will cost more than 1500$. Yes I am happy with my new Audezee
