The Buzz Audio Tilt-n-Filter EQ idea was conceived by Zak Cohen, owner of the Woodshop Recording Studio, and it is based on a series of plug-ins Zak would routinely set up to equalize music tracks recorded direct into his DAW. The Zodiak reproduces this concept with the same series of eq elements - but in the analog domain, so it can used ahead of the DAW input. The main element of the design is the Baxandall style Tilt EQ circuit (originally found on the Quad 44 hifi preamplifer from the 1970s). The concept of a tilt EQ is not new, but with the addition of a fully parametric midrange band and high and low cut filters, the Zodiak caters for a wide range of applications that would otherwise require multiple processors.
This configuration utilizes Buzz Audio BE41 discrete opamps in the signal path with a Lundahl LL1517 output transformer.
All ic opamps are mounted on sockets so it is possible to experiment with your own choice of amplifiers if desired.
The Zodiak is a dual channel equalizer with the following functions on each channel.

This is a very easy EQ to use during tracking since its has every filter type you would want: lowpass for boom, highpass for tightening focus, tilt for overall tone and finally parametric for fine-tuning the other filters. They all sound great on their own, but work and sound even better together. The only downside are the lack of switch frequency/gain values but the pots have enough resistance to offer good control. As a secondary function, this EQ makes a wonderful mix bus EQ when you are encoded in M/S. This allows you to deal with the slight variation you will have in the continuous controls. I imagine the discrete op amp version with lundahl output transformer version I am using sounds better in this secondary application and especially feeding into a good 2-bus since this unit has extremely large amounts of headroom (and a master output gain stage to feed the transformer output). I am using a SSL XL desk to sum 8 M/S stereo stems into the Zodiax then into the Manley Nu Mu on the inert bus and it sounds fantastic!
