i don't believe in the theory that there are different mics for different kinds of recordings. i believe that a good mic is good for everything. setting up my studio, a few years ago, i had a plethora of similarly priced mics in for auditioning. this one I liked the most. and till today i have have yet to come across a situation where this has been found wanting for anything. nor have i ever heard another mic do the job better than this one. be it human voices, percussions or guitars etc, it has always performed incredibly. the only thing i can say against it, is that is has a very clear high feq capture, for a tube mic, and so recording violins etc can include the capture of slight bowing sounds. the same for brass and woodwinds, the sound of the blowing into the instrument can be heard. but this is only in the case of mediocre players, the good ones don't create these artifacts and hence get recorded brilliantly.
The best gear advice always comes from those who use it the most. That's where you come in!
