The Brauner Valvet is quite possibly the best value in high end microphones available, as its hand assembled nature, tube based design and VM1 heritage enable a performance level unrivaled in microphones costing much more. We invite the most critical ear to evaluate the Valvet and judge for yourself. Utilizing the same capsule as the VM1, the Valvet shares its sound quality. The compromise is in pattern (omni and cardioid switchable), internal configuration (using a circuit board rather than point-to-point wiring), a Lundahl transformer instead of a custom twin core design, a shorter body, and a different power supply and shock mount.
