Soyuz Microphones is celebrating its 11th anniversary in 2024 with what is known as the Tulean Explosion. This wordplay on Tula (Soyuz's hometown) and the Cambrian Explosion (or the Biological Big Bang) marks the start of a year of incredible product releases. And it all kicks off with the Wax Brass Bomblet.

Since first hitting the scene in 2017, the 023 Bomblet has become a beloved microphone option in the studio. In honor of this special anniversary, Soyuz is doing a limited edition run of the FET mic with a unique facelift. The brand will produce 53 Wax Brass Bomblet microphones, which feature an unlacquered brass body. This material receives a light coat of wax that will naturally age the microphone and give it a unique patina in the years to come.

In addition to the Wax Brass Bomblet's look, something special is inside the microphone. In keeping with the space theme of Soyuz, the brand's designers have implemented fragments of a Campo del Cielo meteorite into the mic's circuity. Soyuz isn't shying away from letting people know that there is no sonic impact from the meteorite chunks, but it's pretty damn cool knowing that you own a one-of-a-kind piece of pro audio history.

Looks and meteors aside, Soyuz Microphones keeps the rest of the Wax Brass Bomblet the same as the OG Bomblet. The microphone still features the S23 capsule, a reimagined take on LOMO's version of the CK12. When you pair the S23 with the onboard transformer, you'll get a FET mic with wonderfully dark characteristics that retain a pronounced mid-range and top end.
