Neumann KH 150 Two Way, DSP-powered Nearfield Monitor

Aesthetically, the Neumann KH 150 looks nearly identical to its smaller siblings, but don’t let that fool you—it packs some serious upgrades that give it more power, greater range and accurate performance in any mixing environment. Like the KH 120 A, the KH 150 is a bi-amplified active monitor with a ported cabinet and built-in DSP—Neumann didn’t need to reinvent the wheel with this one, they just made it better.

The main advantage that the KH 150 has over the smaller KH models is its increased power and extended bass response. Thanks to a redesigned 6.5-inch woofer and ported bass reflex cabinet design, the KH 150 reaches all the way down to 39 Hz (almost as low as the larger KH 310 S). Under the hood, robust 150 W and 100 W amplifiers (for the woofer and tweeter, respectively) deliver powerful output with plenty of headroom, while advanced limiters prevent the possibility of overload and distortion.

Like the other monitors in the KH series, the Neumann KH 150 features onboard digital signal processing (DSP). The DSP engine controls the sophisticated digital crossovers for each driver, providing exceptional phase coherence between 150 Hz and 16 kHz. Additionally, the DSP allows for automatic calibration with the Neumann MA 1 Monitor Alignment Microphone (sold separately).

The raw specs are certainly impressive, but it’s the practical design choices that really make these monitors stand out. For starters, Neumann´s proprietary Mathematically Modeled Dispersion (MMD) waveguide provides a broad horizontal “sweet spot” with narrower vertical dispersion to minimize reflections from flat surfaces such as desks and ceilings. And it’s efficient, too, consuming just 17 W when idle and only 0.3 W when in standby mode.
