This painstaking recreation of the original channel module will inspire those who love the sound of classic Helios records like Are You Experienced?, Exile on Main Street, Led Zeppelin I and countless others. Al Sutton and Tim Mead of H2 Audio have worked tirelessly to stay true to Dick Swettenham's original design work and perfect the 0011 down to its smallest detail.
For the 0011, H2 Audio has brought together the original Helios 2128 preamp circuit (Lustaphone input transformer intact) with an inductor-based LF/MF EQ section. The EQ section features selectable LF and MF, fixed 10 kHz HF controls, a selectable High Pass filter with the original 40 Hz and 80 Hz filter points, and an EQ bypass option. H2 Audio has added a Helios-designed output amplifier and output transformer to the module. The 0011 can be housed in an H2 Audio eight-channel rack, which is capable of providing 48V phantom power.
To discover more about the H2 Audio 0011 Mic Pre and 3-Band EQ, we headed into Rustbelt Studios for an epic shootout. Watch our video below to hear side-by-side comparisons of the new H2 Audio 0011 and vintage Helios 0011 modules on performances from Ron Otis (Drums), Sammy Boller (Guitar), Steve Lehane and Carson Macc (Vocals).
