    Studio One Sixty Four Revitalizes Chicago's Legendary Carnegie Hall Live Record
    Between April 5th and 10th, 1971, the legendary American rock band Chicago performed and recorded eight shows at the world-famous Carnegie Hall. In October of that year, highlights from the performances were featured on the band’s first-ever live album, which is still the band’s best-selling live album to date. To honor the 50th anniversary of these historic concerts, Chicago is releasing all eight Carnegie Hall shows in their entirety in a new 16-CD deluxe boxed set, fully restored and mixed on a classic SSL 4064 G+ console. However, restoring and mixing these 50-year-old performances was no easy task. Tim Jessup, mix engineer and studio manager of Studio One Sixty Four (owned by Chicago founding member and trumpeter Lee Loughnane), recruited Vintage King to outfit the new studio with its SSL 4064 G Series console and multiple racks of analog outboard gear.     At a young age, Jesus Martinez began learning the art of the requinto (a unique tenor guitar with Latin roots) under his father’s tuteledge. This passing of the torch moment would inspire a love for the music of his familial homeland and lead Jesus to study at the Berklee College of Music. After attending Berklee, Jesus became a founding member of Tres Souls, a group that embraces the sounds of 1940s bolero music.     Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, Bill Jabr is a world-class producer, musician and engineer who has hosted hip-hop elite like Childish Gambino, André 3000, Juice Wrld and Travis Scott at his Blue Room studios. Under the banner of Blue Room, Bill and his partners have built out two amazing studios including Blue South in the ATL and the newer Blue West in Los Angeles. With the buildout of Blue West, Bill was looking to install a centerpiece that carried the weight and punch of a classic API console. While he had always wanted an API 1608, the brand's newly debuted 2448 was an even better fit for the studio and Bill worked with Vintage King Audio Consultant Chris Karn to bring the desk home.
