Danish Pro Audio (DPA) was founded in 1992 following the closure of Bruel & Kjaer's Pro Audio division. Former B&K employees, Morten Stove and Ole Brosted Sorenson took this opportunity to embark on developing their own high-end microphones for recording and broadcast purposes.
Their journey began with a remarkable success story, the 4006 Omni mic, which quickly gained a stellar reputation. However, recognizing an unmet need in the live theater industry for high-quality, clear-sounding, and discreet microphones, DPA shifted its focus.
Collaborating with Muphone, a pioneering hearing aid manufacturer, the two Danish companies created the iconic 4060 and 4061 models. This partnership eventually led to a merger, forming the DPA we know today.

DPA’s most popular mic, the CORE 4099, is a versatile condenser microphone with a flexible gooseneck that’s perfect for miking almost any acoustic instrument. With a hyperlinear frequency response from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, the 4099 delivers unparalleled clarity and detail.
Available in Loud SPL and Extreme SPL models with clamp, stand, and universal mounts, plus a wide range of custom clips for common instruments like drums, piano, strings, and horns, the 4099 has become a staple both in the studio and on the stage.
Perfect for touring, the 4099 comes in two kits of varying sizes. The Classic Kit is optimized for miking acoustic instruments and comes in a 4-pack (with or without a case) or a 10-pack. The Rock Kit is optimized for miking live rock bands with extreme SPL and comes in a 4-pack (with or without the case) or 10-pack (with or without the case).
While many of DPA’s mics are designed to work with a variety of instruments, the 4055 Kick Drum Mic is tailor-made for, you guessed it, kick drums. DPA’s 2000 Series microphones are a more affordable take on the brand’s popular 4000 Series mics. The 2012 small diaphragm condenser most clearly resembles the 4011, with a cardioid pickup pattern that’s perfect for capturing drums, amps, and horns. The DPA 2012 is also available in stereo pairs.

Sold in stereo pairs, the DPA 2006 combines the brand’s Twin Diaphragm Capsule Technology with an omnidirectional pickup pattern, offering precise sound that’s ideal for use with orchestras and choirs. The 2006 is also available in the Compact stereo pairs or as a standalone capsule.
