Whether you're setting up your first studio or looking to upgrade an existing system, our 2025 roundup highlights the monitors that delivered the performance the pro audio community needed most. Let's check out the speakers that defined 2025.

Barefoot Sound Footprint01 Gen2 3-Way Active Studio Monitor - Pair

Barefoot Sound Footprint Series

Barefoot’s Footprint Series studio monitors have been a staple on our annual year-end list since we started back in 2018. Last year, the Footprint03 took the top spot, but in 2025, the new Footprint01 Gen2 and Footprint02 Gen2 studio monitors also made the list.

The Footprint03 is the smallest and most affordable option in the series, making it ideal for smaller studios. It's also the first Footprint monitor to feature tri-amplification, with the tweeter, midrange, and woofer all powered by individual Class D amplifiers. Unlike the other speakers in the series, the Foorptint03 features a ported cabinet design, which helps extend the low-end and add clarity to playback.

Barefoot’s new Footprint01 and Footprint02 Gen2 studio monitors introduce a number of improvements over the original design, including a new tri-amplified architecture (just like the 03), new drivers, advanced DSP with SPOC technology, and a refined cabinet design.

ATC Loudspeakers SCM25A PRO Mk2 Compact Active 3-Way Monitor

ATC Loudspeakers SCM25A PRO Mk2

A true studio staple, the ATC SCM25A PRO Mk2s are on our list of best-selling studio monitors for the 8th year in a row. Engineers lean on these compact three-way actives for one simple reason: they tell the truth, every time. With ATC’s signature midrange clarity, powerful low-end, and the upgraded dual-suspension tweeter delivering effortless detail up top, the SCM25A PRO Mk2 offers the kind of translation you can trust.

Kali Audio IN-8 V2

Kali Audio IN-8 V2

Holding strong as one of the most reliable performers on our year-end lists, the Kali Audio IN-8 V2 continues to impress with clarity and imaging that punch well above its weight. Its three-way design gives each driver less work to do, resulting in better headroom and lower distortion.

The coaxial midrange and tweeter act as a single point source, offering the benefits of both classic three-way systems and coaxial designs without the usual trade-offs. Best of all, the advanced DSP features help you optimize any listening environment so you can trust that your mixes will translate to any system.

Focal Trio6 ST6

Focal monitors have been a mainstay on our annual best-of lists since 2018, and the Trio6 has earned its spot multiple times. The new ST6 model raises the bar with all-new drivers: an 8” subwoofer, 5” midrange woofer, and 1.5” beryllium tweeter, delivering precision and clarity across the frequency spectrum.

Its innovative Focus Mode allows you to switch between a traditional three-way setup, a two-way monitor (midrange and tweeter), or a one-way full-range mode (midrange only), making it easy to hear how mixes translate to smaller speakers or commercial playback systems.

Neumann KH 120 II

Neumann KH 120 II

Making an appearance on our list for the third time in a row (plus a few times before that as the original KH 120s), Neumann's KH 120 IIs remain the brand's most popular studio monitors, and for good reason. This compact and affordable two-way monitor packs a serious punch in a small box.

Its 5.25-inch woofer and 1-inch dome tweeter deliver a surprisingly linear frequency response, while its sophisticated DSP-controlled crossover ensures balanced frequency response across the whole spectrum. Plus, Automatic Monitor Alignment makes setup a breeze, seamlessly calibrating your monitors for optimal performance in any room.

IK Multimedia iLoud MTM mkII

IK Multimedia iLoud MTM mkII

Another new entry on our list of best-selling studio monitors is the impressive iLoud MTM mkII from IK Multimedia. This compact speaker delivers a clear, neutral sound from 36 Hz to 32 kHz, with a deep, controlled low end you'd expect from a speaker twice the size.

Plus, iLoud MTM mkII monitors instantly tune themselves to any room with IK's cutting-edge ARC auto-calibration software, fixing acoustic problems in seconds. Even cooler, it supports IK's award-winning X-MONITOR software, letting you recreate the sonic profile of dozens of other top studio monitors, so you can check how your music will sound on different systems with one pair of speakers.

Auratone 5C Active Super Sound Cube

Auratone 5C Active Super Sound Cube

While the Auratone 5C Active Super Sound Cube may be new to our list, the originals first hit studios back in the 1970s. Combined with the same amplifier technology (developed with Bettermaker) found in the award-winning A2-30, this updated active design stays true to the classic sound engineers have trusted for decades.

Neumann KH 310

Neumann KH 310

This year, we saw a number of larger mid- and far-field speakers make the list, starting with the Neumann KH 310. As the bigger sibling to the popular KH 120, the KH 310 takes everything people love about the series and pushes it even further. Its 8.5-inch low-frequency driver delivers deep, controlled bass that stays clean even at higher volumes, while Neumann’s Mathematically Modeled Dispersion (MMD) waveguide gives you a wide sweet spot and smooth sound across the entire room.

Genelec 8341A

Genelec 8341A

Genelec is no stranger to our yearly monitor round-up, but this is the first time the 8341A has taken the crown, and it’s easy to see why. This state-of-the-art, three-way Smart Active Monitor delivers the same transparent sound and point-source imaging as the beloved 8351B, only in a smaller and lighter form. With coaxial drivers, Acoustically Concealed Woofers, a Minimum Diffraction Enclosure, and a Directivity Control Waveguide, the 8341A offers incredible accuracy and a wide, consistent sweet spot. For engineers working in modern studios (especially immersive setups), it’s a compact monitor that punches far above its size.

ATC Loudspeakers SCM50A Pro

ATC Loudspeakers SCM50A Pro

Rounding out our list this year is another beefy mid-field monitor, the ATC SCM50A Pro. Built for reference work in medium-sized rooms, this three-way active design combines advanced driver technology with powerful amplification to deliver truly world-class performance.  Its nine-inch Super Linear bass driver brings deep, controlled low end, while the three-inch Super Dome midrange offers outstanding clarity. Up top, a one-inch soft dome S-spec tweeter with a dual-suspension design delivers smooth, detailed highs.
